Took a guild job to discover the cause of kobolds coming out of the town well. Got there and discovered that the Kobolds were fleeing bigger monsters, we agreed to help them in order to return balance to the region. Travis got captured and drug off by a shadow while we were stuck fighting. By the time we caught up to him, he was tied sacrifice-style to a large stone altar and surrounded by chanting robes figures. The fight was brutal, somehow, I became the punching bag for the cultists and the last thing I saw before going unconscious was a knife driving into Travis' chest and his lifeblood spilling. I woke up in another room and apparently missed the fight with the wraiths that were summoned from Travis' corpse. The original one got away, but we tried several ways to get it to come back to us and they failed. We destroyed the altar to keep it from making more Wraiths. Caine revealed to us that he is in fact Kshath the Mind Eater, a rogue mind flayer. The shadow dancer had a Shadow Dagger that we gave to Durn. We searched the area and worked our way out, the kobolds thanked us by giving us a Scaled Breastplate made from their fallen companions, Caine (Kshath) took the Breastplate. We talked with the town guard and warned of the wraith and let the Kobolds know that we freed them.
On our way back into town, we ran into some slavers who had captured a lizard man, who was going to be sold into slavery to Mining Magnet Jacques Yaeldrin in Deadlake. We decided to free him and take out the slavers. The fight was going well until the slavers decided to knock out Kshath and drag him off, I got knocked unconscious (a disturbing trend). By the time I woke up the fight was over and our new friend, Dizisk, spared the remaining slaver. We took the wagons and horses and headed back into town.
Adventure 2 - Chasing the Psychic Dragon
After returning back to the Wayfarer's Guild we got our reward for the Kobold mission and gathered a few rumors. Salazan the Sorcerer needs help obtaining the horn of a Kirin to make a cure for his diseased sister. We also let the guild and Vita the Paladin know about the wraith in Mournstead. She also let me know there were some nice sealed and haunted ruins she wanted help clearing. With some trepidation about the morality of hurting one good guardian spirit to heal another we decided to head out to help Salazan after we went to see his sister, who was a temple to a god whom I was not familiar with. I attempted to help with the healing, but it did little to help her. Kshath went delving into her mind and discovered that she had been visiting by a shadowy humanoid that inflicted her mind. We then headed out past the Lonely Family to the region the Kirin was seen. Leaving our wagon with some local farmers we marched into the woods. Signs of Ogres were seen around the woods, when we got close to the Kirin's territory Acidicus and Durn left the rest of us to make camp, while they searched for the beast. They eventually encountered it near a small lake, apparently Durn and the Kirin had some sort of mind merge and the Kirin offered one of it's horns to aid in our cause. Now we head back to cure Salazan's sister and destroy the beast that is haunting her. Salazan is a bit of a snake and wanted more, but he doesn't have the power to take it himself...for now.
Watch Order - Kshath (all), 1 - Dusty, 2 - Acidicus, 3 - Durn, 4 - Dizisk, 5 - Mark
We camped for the night, setting a proper watch order and everything. Feels like a proper adventurer's outing. Acidicus apparently ate(?) some ogres overnight. We returned to Vrada where Salazan made the Kirin's horn potion and Durn checked her physical condition. When she awoke we determined based on her description that she was likely attacked by an Animate Dream(?) at her home. The others did some searching around their place, while I went some occult libraries and researched the creature. They discovered that the people around her had been dying in their sleep, including finding a month-old corpse. I figured out the AD's feed on their victim's nightmares while they place them in a coma. Incorporeal creatures, while they are not actually inside someone they have a faint ghostly form. I learn an exorcism ritual that could eject one. They are unlikely to move around during the day and its likely to still be in the church. I contacted the others and made a beeline back to the church. Durn found the entity hiding inside a closet and we discovered that those who were closer to sleep could affect it, so I poisoned Dizisk almost to the point of unconsciousness and he managed to slay the beast. After getting paid we discussed various ways of getting housing.
Adventure 3 - Undead and Buried No More
*80gp and DC 17 Fort Save Paralysis Poison
We decided to rent a couple of units in the rowhouses (nice central location and travel) under Durn and Mark's names. Then headed down to the fight club, where the guys met Rodol the hobgoblin ringmaster. First Fight, Uru v Milo I throw 10g on the dapper melee fighter Uru who was blasted down by the sneaky mage before he could cross the ring. Apparently, Acidicus was bored so he headed out the door after the first fight. Second, Caim v Milo I bet 10g on the underdog Caim. Caim used "mind bullets" to stun Milo and then broke his neck, not very exciting but put me up 10g so far. Caim v Navrick at 4:1 odds I have to bet on the underdog. The mind whammy doesn't work this time, but Navrik shrugs it off and it appears that Caim is bloodless and he sucker punches the hobgoblin and I am out another 10g. Caim v Ashra at 4:1 against she put up a good fight, but the undead guy killed her and I am down 20g. Several more rounds of Caim winning I break even. Dsizik v Caim is 10:1 against the lizard, a brutal fight later D wins and beheads the opponent. My 100g bet on him nets me a 1000g profit and I walk away from the betting. Dsizik wins the night and earns the Title Beasts of the Sands. Acidicus returned and said he ran into the slavers who got away and the problem was "digested". Vita returned and said it appeared we killed the wraiths, she finished off the remaining shadows and animated dead. Then lead us to the teleporters where we found ourselves in the Nation State of Tiber, one of the oldest Nation States in the region, amazingly the forest region is not over-populated by elves. Headed off to the southwest towards Beriso, once we reached the town we were lead to the graveyard where the ruins are. Where we find the runed gate in the bottom of a large gash in the ground.
With our companions providing cover from the roaming dead in the graveyard, Ksath and I dash to the gate where I cover Ksath while he deciphers the runes. He determines this is some sort of temporal prison and then he breaks the runes and the lid blows sky high leading to a large hole in the ground. We decide to head down into the hole which is lined with skeletal remains and come into a large circular chamber where three corpses lie on the ground. We hear distant thundering footsteps and a disembodied voice says to be careful of the stone ones. A large stone statue comes walking in and the corpses rise up. We engage and Dizisk provides front line coverage, but is no match for the strength of the statue. Fortunately, Acidicus proves himself stronger than stone and the statue crumbles and we make short work of remaining zombies (who seemed to have some sort of beef with the statue). The disembodied voice offers us a blessing if we make our way to the bottom of this pit and free it. He seemed on the up and up. So we turn to head deeper into this tomb(?), prison(?), dungeon(?)
